My Journey in Paint

I create still life paintings that explore the beauty and presence of everyday objects through a contemporary realist approach. Realism is the foundation of my work, allowing me to study form, light, texture, and color with precision and care.
While rooted in traditional representational painting, I introduce subtle shifts in scale, spatial relationships, composition, and form. I work within a shallow pictorial space, often using the tabletop as a stage where objects come together in close proximity to the viewer. Flowers, grapes, vessels, and other familiar objects are sometimes presented larger than life, creating a sense of monumentality within an intimate space.
My background in monumental painting has influenced the way I organize the picture plane, emphasizing relationships between form, rhythm, scale, and color rather than deep spatial illusion. Through careful observation and deliberate arrangements of form, color, and space, I seek a balance between realism and personal expression.
I am interested in the moment when a familiar object remains believable yet begins to feel unfamiliar—when a change in scale or spatial relationship invites the viewer to look again. My goal is to encourage viewers to rediscover the extraordinary within the ordinary and experience familiar subjects from a renewed perspective.
